16 Dining Chairs

I have to admit, I lost sleep over these 16 dining chairs with separate seats and backs. I was trying to figure out how to go around the back post and velcro the skirt closed and make it look good.

The chairs underneath are gray leather with large nail head trim with no skirt. The client felt like the dining room was cold and wanted to add some fabric with a skirt to the floor.

Here is the drawing my designer client drew up for me to show me what he wanted.

AFTER---of course the white linen backs had to be lined. They only wanted black toppers for every other chair and then the picture frame fabric in between (some are square and some are oval).

The topper fabric was a shiny black chintz---so it looks somewhat like leather. The designer decided no piping---which I thought turned out nice.

I did attach some ribbon ties under the skirt next to the back legs, so I could strap the seats on more securely....since they are leather and slippery seats underneath.

My client chose this great heavy weight red basket weave fabric. It was literally like a blanket...super thick. Luckily she didn't want a skirt. I don't think I could have done one with this fabric.
Chair--BEFORE--- muslin covered and ready for a slipcover.

 Chair--AFTER---great red chenille fabric.

 Back cushion and outside arm

I loved it with her cow ottoman and floral chair--I love mixing patterns and textures, and having an unexpected piece.

Front of chair--- I made the front part under the cushion extend over to the outside arm, so the front panel would look cleaner.

SIDE NOTE---- My sister just finished putting together my Christmas card. My youngest lost his tooth the day before we took pics!

 Front of card

Back of Card--- We joked that the boys were lowering each other down to catch lizards.

Dining Chairs

My client wanted to switch it up...and get slipcovers made for her dining room. She chose this great fabric with fall colors.

Chair---BEFORE

Chair--AFTER---I piped out the arms and inside arms. Tuck in around the seat, and matched up the band on the front.

Whole dining room together!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!!

Side Note---- Demo of our fence and large willow tree has begun and our new garage is going to be built next month. Then we will start on converting our old garage to my new "work studio"!

Here is my inspiration pic of how we may fill in our garage door for the work studio, except there will be 5 sections and two of them will open up...so I can move furniture in and out.

White Denim Chaise

My client also wanted to do her chaise in white denim to go with the loveseat in the same room

 Chaise---BEFORE

Chaise--AFTER--- I decided to do a band around the front to make the lines cleaner instead of doing a pleat/ tuck thing on the front corners. Then I topstitched the seam on the corner where I had to piece the band.

 Her whole room...

The chaise didn't have a separate seat cushion....so I had to do tuck in all around the back of the seat.

I am loving those dark turned legs!

SIDE NOTE---

I have been obsessed with the new remodel project of converting our garage into a new work studio for myself and building a new Garage for Heber.

I have already bought some amazing curtain fabric, a HUGE chandelier, and a door (for barn sliding door). We are working on drawings to get permits from the city. My inspiration for my new space was a Master Bedroom redo by Mandi at Vintage Revivals! I love navy blue and mossy green together....but I wouldn't have ever chosen the gold...but I love it all together!

White Denim Loveseat with ruffled skirt

Loveseat --BEFORE

Loveseat--AFTER, she was wanting a change. I loved her wood floors that were white washed.

English rolled arms are my favorite.... I did a 1 1/2" blind hem on the skirt and gathered it. The denim didn't hang well with the gathers, so I ironed the gathers down, so they'd lay better.

I followed the original lines of the loveseat and piped down the center front.

Side Note-- I am taking December off, so I am on the home stretch...just finishing up 16 parson chairs, and then 2 more chairs and an ottoman!

I am outgrowing my current work room in my basement and have decided to convert our garage to my new work room---so that will be my (Heber's) December project. I am pretty excited about this...just the thought of unloading furniture from the driveway straight into my workroom instead of hauling all the pieces down stairs is AMAZING!

Camille's Front Room UPDATE

I helped Camille about 2 years ago with her front room....which she loved. But lately she was wanting to update it just a bit.

Front room---from 2 years ago (BEFORE)

Free Ottoman I picked up on my local Facebook yardsale page. I wanted to keep it for myself, but after realizing I didn't have a spot for it and it sat in my spare room for 4 months---I offered it to Camille.  I LOVE round ottomans.

AFTER--
Here's what we ended up with.... She kept her main pieces (gray couch and paisley chair). We added a new rug, new pillows, and a round ottoman.

She also found a mantle on KSL.com for $50. The rug is from www.rugsusa.com. and the gray houndstooth ottoman fabric came from www.fabric.com for $7/yd.

How beautiful did her room turn out??? I LOVE IT! I happened to see the bird fabric on the pillows at our local fabric store the week before she ordered her rug, luckily...they still had a little left.

If you want to update your home for the holidays...order my "How to Slipcover" DVD or "Pillow Talk" e book below to help you get started!
