Shabby Chic ruffled slipcovers

My Client wanted to keep the Shabby chic ruffled slipcovers--but wanted them in white linen instead. She actually made the existing yellow slipcovers herself years ago---she did a great job! But this time she didn't want to make them herself. Which is great! I always love visiting her in her beautiful home and catching up on our families.

Chair--BEFORE-- these chairs are a family heirloom, rust and all! Simply beautiful!

I did 1.5" blind hem and ironed all the gathers down, so they would drape down nicely and not be poofy.

I tied the bows directly onto the posts--to eliminate bulk on the slipcovers themselves. Bonus--when you wash the slipcovers the ties won't need to be ironed flat to look good again. I can't take credit for this idea--my client did the original slipcovers that way. She wanted everything to be exactly the same, except smaller piping and white linen.  

Her home is truly amazing! All the natural light with the fresh snow outside made for great pictures!

Side Notes--Had some great time off with my family this holiday season! 

 We stayed at the cabin on Christmas night--there was about 3 ft of fresh powder! The boys couldn't resist jumping from the deck into it.

 We hiked up to Diamond Fork Hot springs--which is in Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah. It was amazing! We even stripped down to our suits and got in. 20 degrees outside and 12 mile roundtrip hike. I am always up for an adventure.

The cousins came to the cabin to play time in the snow. It was pretty cold outside about 15 degrees, so not much sledding happened. The boys worked with Heber on turning their teepee into an igloo. 

It's not Christmas without a family party and ugly Christmas Sweaters...

White linen chaise lounge

My client wanted a white linen chaise lounge, so she picked up this dated worn contemporary piece and about 14 yds white linen. Chaise--BEFORE- pilled fabric Chaise--AFTER! Tall skirt and ties on the arms. She wanted a "rustic farmhouse" look. I also made her some tie closure pillows to go along with it. Arm detail

I loved her style and all her pretty stuff! Finishes off the room for sure and will most likely be the new favorite seat in the house!

Heavyweight White Linen Slipcovers

My client had lots of items! 2 wing backs, 1 couch, 1 loveseat and 6 dining room chairs! We ordered some heavyweight white linen from Ulster Linen Company for about $28/yd….this stuff is BEAUTIFUL and heavy weight!!!

 Wingbacks--BEFORE--worn teal velvet. All of this furniture was from her childhood growing up!

 LOVESEAT--BEFORE--The linen was really heavy, but it still had a hard time covering up those dark flowers. I made a separate undergarment (like a slip) out of muslin for more coverage. Just a quick slipcover out of muslin with no piping and a  simple hem--super fast.

 DINING CHAIRS---BEFORE--Cruel covered seats that were getting worn. We actually just used a basic white twill cotton on these and self lined them. I thought the linen would be too heavy and the skirts wouldn't hang right.

 AFTER--love the white contrast with all the dark wood!

 AFTER--lots of velcro openings on these chairs to make them work with the wood coming down the center back.

 AFTER--used same cotton twill for the knife pleat edge instead of the heavy linen.

COUCH--AFTER--apparently I got too excited to put the new slipcover on I forgot to take a before pic!

 Tie opening on back and knife pleat edge.

 Finials came off--so I slipcovered like normal and sewed a button hole, so the finial could screw in after the slipcover was installed.

White Linen Chair and Settee

Lorraine is one of my repeat clients that I have had forever! I love when she calls and we get to add another beautiful piece to her amazing home!

 Chair---BEFORE--it did have the original Red/cream buffalo check slipcover on it, but I forgot to take the before pic with it on.

 CHAIR---AFTER--White linen from Joanns. Lorraine was nervous about it being too thin, so I fully lined the whole slipcover with muslin. Triple fullness on the gathered skirt, and arm pads for extra protection against wear and tear.

I added 1" for drag on the skirts.

 SETTEE---BEFORE! This was for her master bedroom and was sorely missed while I was working on it. Apparently it's everyones favorite seat.

 Settee--AFTER! This one is fully lined with muslin as well, and a set of arm pads to keep it nice.

I love all her vintage pieces and collectibles!

SIDE NOTES

- This week was spring break for the kids so we headed south to St. George where its a bit warmer. We went to Sand Hollow State Park to try out our new paddle boards. This place was AMAZING! They call it "Little Lake Powell".

There were tons of rocks to jump off--kids loved it. The water was still a bit chilly in April, but it was 80 degrees out--so we can't complain!

We also headed to Zions National Park and hiked Angels Landing. The boys did great. It was a bit of a crazy hike! We originally planned on paddle boarding that day, but when we got to the reservoir it was way too WINDY! So we headed to Zions in swim suits, swim dress, and flip flops for our hike.

 Here we are at the top of Angel's Landing! At least the boys had tennis shoes on! Heber let me wear his water shoes (we are the same size) and he hiked the whole thing in flip flops! As for me I made do and tied my dress up and enjoyed the crazy 5 mile hike. Like I always tell my boys…"Find a Solution."
