Navy/Oatmeal chair

My client decided she wanted to switch it up and have a navy/oatmeal chair. She found this great fabric from www.fabric.com. It washed beautifully! click  HERE to see BEFORE pic.

IMG_4371After! Lots of matching! She had some extra fabric, so instead of making pillows she thought arm pads would be best to keep the chair looking good. I provide some great, painless MATCHING TIPs in my Advanced Slipcover Guide. It's an instant download! Use Promo code FALL to receive 20% off!

IMG_4372I really wanted the arm pads to match up as well!

SIDE NOTES! My summer in a nutshell!11036298_10207164853740153_7497275904053024283_n

My boys are always creating something! I LOVE IT! To see more of their projects search instagram #hebersboys or click here
11866402_10207442727646827_3662972263624699715_nHeber and I celebrated our 18yr anniversary!

11895981_10207517452314897_4529477657488302957_n We took our first family backpacking trip! One mile, one night in the Unitas (Lake Ruth).

IMG_4880My oldest son is running cross country and had practices EVERY day of the summer---which meant lots of carpooling! At last weeks meet, he took 31st place out of 256 varsity boys! So worth all the carpooling to see him push himself and run hard. He average 5:30/mile for 2.9miles! So proud of him!

10999443_10207299992358534_2729427318141832675_nI helped plan our family reunion! We had it on the Oregon Coast this year, which was AMAZING! These are all my siblings! 6 kids and 21 grandkids, it was quite the party! Talent shows, dance parties, fishing, hot tubbing, hiking, paddle boarding, etc! My sister surprised us at the talent show with these bobble heads from an old family picture--her whole family had them on and danced to YMCA--It was the funniest thing I've ever seen!Photobucket Photobucket get it covered photo coveredbutton.jpg the whole 9 yards photo whole9yards.jpg

Gray/Yellow Bedroom Chair and Ottoman

My client had this great comfortable chair and a mismatched  cheetah ottoman. She wanted to redo them so they'd match her newly decorated bedroom---which is BEAUTIFUL!

 Chair---BEFORE

Chair--AFTER- She told me to do it however I thought was best. With the large print, I didn't want to break up the pattern, so I decided to do a waterfall skirt.

I loved all her bed pillows--eclectic and no two are the same.

Of course there was matching involved.

I love how bright and airy the room looks.

She also had 2 scrolled back parson chairs for her desk area.  I chose to keep it tight around the front and a waterfall skirt in the back to keep the pattern from being broke up. Plus we were limited on fabric. 3 1/2 yds per chair with that large repeat.

I had to do seams down the front corners, because the fabric wasn't wide enough to make it all the way around. Blind hem around the bottom.

SIDE NOTE #1- Brooke's front room is coming along, we purchased all our main pieces off www.ksl.com, used of course-- we moved everything in, so I could get the scale and vision what else we need. We also ordered curtain and pillow fabric. I am super excited, but now we have to wait a week for the fabric to arrive.

The green wall will be painted white to match the other walls, and we are hoping to do a large mirror over the couch.

Curtain fabric---we wanted a pop of yellow in the room.

SIDE NOTE #2-- It feels like spring here in Utah! I know everyone else is taking the brunt of the winter for us. We are enjoying 50-60 degree days in FEBRUARY!!! Normally we are in the 30's.

My boys have been busy making ramps and skateboarding out front with all the neighbor boys.

Pair of Barrel Chairs

My client picked up a pair of barrel chairs from ikea for her daughters room that she wanted to update a bit and make it feel a little more "grown up".

Barrel chair--BEFORE

Barrel chairs--AFTER-- she chose a fabric that she can eventually transition the room into more of a teen room.

There was only a bit of matching :)! My Advanced Slipcover Guide teaches you how to plan and match with little effort.

We did a 2.5" pleat ruffle around the base.

I sewed her bedding and pillows several years ago, when they first moved into their house.

SIDE NOTE---

About 2 weeks ago, we went to Costa Rica with 2 other couples from our neighborhood.

We had an amazing time! It was so much fun to experience a different culture. Boxed milk, eggs on the shelf, guanabana (fruit), ceviche (raw fish in pico d'gallo, church (blow up pool for baptism out front), ketchup in a foil bag, crocodiles, crazy driving, etc.

We did a full day paddle board adventure with Paddle 9.  It was an AMAZING day! Paddle boarding in the bay, then they took us to the back country of Costa Rica to rock waterslides, and a waterfall that we jumped off, then to a beautiful beach for sunset. They bought us lunch and gave us Costa Rican treats and snacks. We drove in a rickety van with no a/c windows down with reggae music playing, true Costa Rica culture…I LOVED it!
Waterfall that Paddle 9 took us to! We jumped off the rock that was lodged at the top between the walls. IT took me about 5 minutes to convince myself to jump--it felt like the landing area was so skinny! Then I did it AGAIN! I love off the beaten track stuff--not touristy at all!

Guanabana Shakes were a huge hit!! Apparently the only place in the U.S. that carries guanabana is Florida.

We rented a 2000 sq ft house with 3 bedrooms that had amazing views of the jungle with monkeys. One morning we could see the monkeys while we were laying in bed out our window! It was a five minute drive to the beach.

The water was super warm and it was about 95 degrees everyday with lots of humidity. Swim suit and cover up with flip flops everyday! This was Ventanas Beach--which means "windows", at low tide there are two tunnels/ caves that you can walk in the go out to the ocean.

Pair of Striped Chairs

For the past month, I have been super motivated to finish my "Get it Covered" Advanced Slipcovering Guide. I have spent numerous days taking pics and editing. Today I finished my hard edit! I'll just need to run through it one more time and then it'll be READY! I am super excited to get this available. I have been working on it, on and off for the past 9 months. It should be available by Monday!

56 or so pages of tips and tricks on skirts, wing backs, sectionals, hemming options, curved inside back items, parson chairs, scrolled back, telephone arms, english rolled arms, arm pads, t-cushions, etc.!

Here's a sneak peak of one of the pages!

My client had these pair of chairs that were the same, but had been upholstered in different fabrics. She wanted to make them a pair again. They had tufted back cushions, that I had to remove first.

Chairs--BEFORE

To cut off attached cushions--cut on cushion side of the seam, so you aren't left with exposed springs that you will need to patch up.

Chairs---AFTER - She wanted a second set of cushions out of the floral to mix it up at some point. We decided to keep the band out of the stripe, to tie it all in.

This fabric was a pretty heavy denim, so I did a 1.5" blind hem on the skirt.

I covered the back cushions and decided to keep them "pillow style" with kiss pleats instead of boxing them.

Here's another job I dropped off last month. I was pretty proud of the matching job! I debated centering the large floral on both cushions--but it was too overwhelming since the cushions were petite. Ultimately, we decided to center the large floral on the back cushion and let the print flow down to the seat.

My client was very happy to get rid of the old hawaiian palm leaf print that was on them.

Side Note--

I just received some rug pads from www.rugpadusa.com. The quality was great! If you need rug pads check them out! These are great for those flat weave rugs that tend to shift and slide around and don't have much substance to them. They have different thicknesses of pad.
