Blue Diamond Chenille Chairs

These chairs were for a master bedroom. My client is a designer and wanted to switch things up in his master bedroom. He loves fabric as much as I do, and was super fun to work with! I was tempted to leave his neighbors fitting to join them on an outing to the fabric store. I just finished his parson chairs a few weeks ago for his basement.

Chairs--BEFORE---beautiful, but ready for something different.

Chairs---AFTER

Blue Diamond Chenille--matched up all those diamond at the top of the skirt and cushion

I did a 1.5" blind hem on the skirt--the fabric was pretty thick and had a backing on it. It laid better than what I was expecting.

I always like to run piping down the inside arm on scrolled back chairs--just finishes it off a bit more

Such a beautiful room!

Side Note---Today we are heading out on our anniversary date! 16 YEARS!!! We are heading to the cabin for the night and then going on a hike and waterfall rapel at Bridal Veil Falls.

LOVE THIS MAN!

One of my favorite pics of us!

Parson Chairs

Oh my goodness...It's been awhile! I haven't been able to keep up this summer! Here are some parson chairs I did back in June for a client. He had 8 of them, and I absolutely loved his fabric!!!

Parson chairs---BEFORE---great wood legs and shape, he was just tired of the fabric.

Parsons--AFTER

Matching on the inside seat seam.

I topstitched the seat seam for extra strength.

I also topstitched the front corners, since the tapered so much onto the top of the seat. I wanted them to lay smooth.

They definitely added a pop to his basement!

SIDE NOTE....This has been my summer! Even though I am exhausted every day, I love my crazy boys and all their friends! Here are some photos of my summer!

Clipper hair cuts---trash bags, goggles, and robes do wonders for not getting itchy!

Zipline in the front yard--installed by the boys and their friends!

Paddle boarding with my man at my family reunion. If you are local to SLC, UT you can rent paddle boards from http://utahwhitewatergear.com

Luke jumping in the kayak solo and paddling around the lake like a big boy!
Old fashioned pic of my kids and their cousins at my family reunion.

Carter jumping off rocks at Lake Utica

Swimming through caves with my boys in Northern Cal.

Boogie boarding with all my friends at Carlsbad State Beach.

Heber finding crabs and an octopus at Carlsbad State Beach.

Our annual family pic at the top of the stairs at Carlsbad State Beach. Another year or two and the boys may be taller than me!

Occasional Chair

First of all---I know I haven't posted in about 4 weeks (Summer hit me hard this year). Follow me on my slipcovershelley facebook page for more regular updates. You can also now follow me on Instagram (search slipcovershelley).

My client had two of these chairs. She thought they were a great size to use as occasional chairs, and move from room to room as needed.

 Chair--BEFORE

Chair--AFTER

I did 4"box pleat skirt all the way around the base. Since there was not a separate seat cushion, I did a band around the front with piping and tuck in around the seat.

I also piped down the inside arm.

On the skirt, I did a 1" blind hem and then pleated. The fabric (white denim) was too heavy to self line and pleat nicely.

SIDE NOTES!!!

#1---This is now my life...SUMMER DAYS with the boy crew from the neighborhood. Trying to keep up with them is crazy! Sleepovers, campfires, drives to the dollar store, making food, lizard catching, scout camps, etc. I am just going with it, and if I don't blog for a few weeks it's fine.

#2--Last weekend I took Carter with me to Seattle to my Nephew's Mission Farewell. He is heading to Ghana for two years to serve a mission for the LDS church.

Carter loves him so much! He cried his eyes out when it was time to say goodbye.

Hanging out with Carter before church.

The whole family went to Pikes Market, then we took a ferry Bainbridge Island.

Carter was excited to hold a real octopus at Pikes Market and shop for t-shirts for his brothers that we left at home.

Carter was excited to get the window seat on the plane ride home....check out our view!

Morning after I got back from Seattle, Logan headed off to Camp Alma for a week (scout camp).

#3---I am running the WASATCH BACK RAGNAR in 3 days! Camille, Teresa, and I ended up getting on a sponsored team for SCHEELS! We are so excited....free entry, free running shoes, free van rental, free gas...What more could a girl want?!

#4---I switched out my couches for these awesome blue nubby couches that I found on my local (Utah) Vintage Yardsale Facebook page. I LOVE THEM!!! It's actually a really long couch that comes apart, so I am using them as two loveseats. My youngest doesn't like that there isn't an arm on one side (he fell off while eating his cereal)---he shouldn't be eating cereal on my awesome couches, anyhow!!!

Striped Upholstered Rocker

My client wanted to redo this chair for her little girls room.

Chair---BEFORE---you can see my pins marking my center, so I could line up all those stripes.

Chair--AFTER-- this stripe wasn't symmetrical, it ran pink, blue, green,pink..... I decided the pink stripe was the most dominant that my eye went to--so I picked the center between the pink stripes to be my center (white stripe with tiny pinstripe of light blue). This way it looked more symmetrical.

I notched out around the rockers.

Lapped zipper on back right corner next to the piping.

The top corners were more rounded, so I did a kiss pleat (like the original) instead of a seam or fold one way. I also did piping down the inside arm seam (looks nicer this way, especially with stripes).

I timed the stripes on the front of the arms to coincide with the front...so they don't miss a beat. (This is easier to do than you might think....I took photos for my Advanced Slipcovering guide, and will give you step by step instructions)

Side Note---My sister found this old photo of my grandparents. They used to travel across the country and sleep in their car quite often. Here they are sleeping in their station wagon. It's like a Ragnar race! Now that my marathon is over, I am seriously debating jumping on a team to run Wasatch Back next month.
