Tall Wingback Couches and booked till June 20th

This client found these couches on KSL.com for $50 each (matching pair)! I can't tell you how excited I was about these couches. They were almost as tall as me! I have never seen anything like these before...They were BEAUTIFUL!!!

My client wanted to do one large down wrapped cushion on these instead of keeping the 3 separate cushions. I couldn't agree more.

Couch--- BEFORE
Couch---BEFORE

Couch---AFTER with a new down cushion. The original cushions were 3" tall, and we went with a 5" thick down cushion. The couches were large scaled and I thought they could take some extra height.

Couch---AFTER

Check out the legs on these! My client went with a cream duck cloth fabric from Joanns. She prewashed it of course, so she can wash the slipcovers after they are made.

Side Note #1---- I am booked until June 20th!

Side Note #2---I paid off the cabin this month! Happy Day! I know I am a little neurotic about debt and interest.

Side Note #3---I have been working hard on editing my "Pillow Talk" ebook (make pillows with piping and a zipper. It's getting close! I demo all the pillows below in the book (knife edge, mitered, bolster, ruffled, piping with ZIPPERS!) It will be available for $25 in a few weeks.

Side Note #4--- Just painted 13" horizontal gray and white stripes in my front room. They look amazing. If you want a sneak peak (iphone pic).....check out my Slipcover Shelley facebook page. Once I take some real pics with my big girl camera, I'll do a post.

Those tall couches are to. Die. For. !
I can't get over what fantastic pieces those are. The slipcovers ate perfect, never mind the pillows! Beautiful job. When they are for sale, email me! :)

Those are the most unique, awesome sofas I've seen! Very cool... Question - where in the world did you find the down cushion? I've been searching high and low for some down cushions without luck.

Great job on the sofas - I've recently used your instructional DVD to slipcover some pieces of furniture as well - no way I could have done it without your help!

The new cushions fit the scale of the couch so much better! They look terrific. And congrats on paying off the cabin! Being debt free is the BEST!

Those turned out beautiful!

and there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to be outof debt - we paid off our house 2 years ago. I love the freedom. And we live debt free too. It's a wonderful life lesson to teach our children. Don't you think?

@ Queen Bee---down envelope cushions...google Ronco Industries (Sylmar, Ca) and ask for Justin he'll help you out. They have great customer service and are really reasonable.

I think I just found my favorite blog!!! I love making slipcovers (& love paying off debts even more!)! I get asked on occasion by friends to make slipcovers for different things and never know what to charge them because I don't have an official 'business' set up for it... I just love the challenge of figuring out how to make each piece fit. I read on your post that you had your client purchase & pre-wash their own fabric..is that correct? what a great idea! Keep up the good work & looking forward to reading more!! Elizabeth :)

You did a wonderful job on the slipcovers. The higher cushion fill was a great choice, the single cushion looks to have much better proportions now. What a deal your client got on those gorgeous couches.

I haven't been able to reach the person at Ronco yet, but looking at other sites, it appears custom down "L-curved" seat cushions (2 for a 7' sofa) cost around $300 per cushion for the 50/50 white goose down they recommend. That seems very high to me. That would be $600 just to replace the cushions on my sofa! What do you recommend to your clients?

@ Debi---I usually go with the 10/90 Duck fill. That's what I did on these couches. Call Ronco and get a quote.
