My crazy boys!

So I realized I haven't posted about my kids that much lately...so here are some pics from this winter. For those of you who don't know, I have 3 boys ages 10,8,and 6. I always post their funny things on facebook...so I decided to copy and paste some of my posts for you. We all like a good laugh right, so that way we know we aren't alone in this whole motherhood thing.

*Luke took a bath...like he always does (3 times per day). He got out was watching tv in the basement while I was in my work room and after awhile I realized I could still hear water running in the pipes in the wall. "Luke did you turn the bath off?" "No" "WHAT?" I run upstairs and find my 6 ft jetted tub full of water 1" from the top! with the water still on full blast. HOLY CRAP!

*Carter asks the same three questions every night at bedtime... "Did you check the weather?" (he wants to know if it's going to be warm enough to wear shorts in the morning to school...ha ha, I always tell him it's going to be months), "Did you lock all the doors and close the garage?" and "Are you going anywhere tomorrow". Then he needs his second kiss and hug good night.

*just heard from a neighbor that she saw Luke being carried into kindergarten by the principal kicking and screaming, saying he didn't want to go to school. I handed him over to carpool crying, usually he stops before he gets to school! Gotta love it.

*Logan and Carter have taken apart their remote control car and "remodeled" it. Luke wanted to take some of his stuff apart too....by banging it on the end table...gotta teach that boy how to use a screw driver. He was so proud when he got a piece to come off!

*So the boys are getting ready for church...I tell Luke, "good job getting dressed!", He says surprised, "Nothings on backwards?". Then I tell Logan he needs to go brush his teeth...as he's playing with duct tape..."No I don't, I am using tape"...he's sticking the duct tape to his teeth and pulling it away trying to clean the scum off his teeth.

*Drove to Walmart with Luke..picked out a birthday gift for Luke's friend, Luke threw a fit because he wanted a toy as well and didn't want to spend his money...I offered to pay for more than half, and he still wouldn't go for it. So I picked him up off the floor and walked out without buying anything. I hope he'll learn soon...ask nice, if mom says no...it means no...not whine longer.

*I was trying to get a kiss from luke the other day, "I need a kiss from my munchkin", then Luke says, " Then go get one from Carter!"

*boys are out playing in the new snow...Luke's trying to ride his bike in 3" of new snow.

*We went to parent teacher conference tonight...while we were waiting, I asked Luke, "what do you think your teacher is going to say about you?"...He says, "Something AMAZING!" in a really animated excited voice while we was running up and down the hall being CRAZY!

*watched "Say yes to the dress" last night with carter. Half way through he asks me, "How do you get them to like you?" So I explained dating and flowers.

*duct tape + swimming noodle + 2 crib mattresses +mini basketball = homemade basketball hoop duct taped to the boys bedroom door and a dunk contest in the basement. I take no credit for this. Boys have great imaginations.

*So all my boys are throwing around the word "upgrade". How do they know about upgrading???? Don't they know they have Chatterley roots???? Anyhow...they just bought their own tv from DI and some used xbox games as well. They are in heaven right now. They spent all their money for being good while we were in Maui. Well... not Luke, he made the boys buy him a baseball trophy for $1, he refused to bring his $.

*Not sure if Luke still believes.... Logan got the present Luke had supposedly asked Santa for and stormed out of the room crying.

We took the boys with us to see the lights at temple square...this was where Heber took me on our first date 15 years ago...Look how much has changed in 15 years, three extra little ones.

Luke decided to roll up a huge snowball with the other boys and leave it right in the middle of the driveway.

Here are my three boys plus a few friends...Heber was pulling them behind the fourwheeler down from the cabin. One day I am entitled to daughter-in-laws right? I always tell the boys they'd better pick good ones.

Carter and Logan showing off their muscles with Heber. Luke took off and wouldn't perform. This was Carter's baptism day.

Old plaid couch

This couch was from my clients friend. She called me because it needed a new life. The fabric was wearing through on the cushion fronts...so she put the zipper side out to make it last a little longer. The back cushions were quite a bit saggy, so I had her pick up a bag of quilt batting for when I brought the slipcover back. I took the old covers off and wrapped the batting around the insert and then put the old covers back on. Then I put the new slipcover cushions on...that way when she takes the slipcover off to get it cleaned, the batting is contained and not all over the place.

Before.

Look at the saggy back cushions

After.... look at how much fuller and new the back cushions look. Quick fix for about $12 total for the batting.
Front of arm...she chose a great red linen that had a backing (white muslin) on it. So it was really stable, thick and more heavy duty than normal linen.
She topped it off with some pillows from IKEA.

Club chair

This chair was for a darling repeat client...last time my husband did the drop off and pick up for me, so I never got to meet her. Anyhow...she had this chair in her basement that was a little dated... burgandy stripes.

She chose a great neutral soft textured fabric that was pretty thick. We decided to take off the skirt and show the legs. Which in the end was a great plan, because I don't think I could've got a pleated skirt on that slipcover because the fabric was so thick.

The bottom edge of the chair curved on the sides, but she decided she wanted it straight across. So the legs look shorter.

Before.. I already took the skirt off before I took the picture. You can see the fade line of where it was, if you look close.

After...Who needs to buy a new chair when your old one can look this great! Love the fabric! She prewashed the fabric...so when the kids get it a little dirty she can take it off and put it in the washer.

Close up of the front

Another close up.
I love the green pillow and green walls too. I am a sucker for green. I think it stems from my childhood. In one of our old houses, my mom had the fireplace mantel and all the wood trim painted sage green, oh and the carpet was green too. We all made fun of it all the time, but she loved it. Now look at me, "Momma's girl"!

My sisters and I call each other "momma's girl" when we do or say something that is SO our mom.

Better After Blog

So if any of you are like me...you love to look at before and after pictures of any kind...furniture, remodeling, slipcovering, decorating, etc. Well my sister Angie told me about this blog called better after where all she posts are before and after pics that are sent in to her. I emailed her a few of my blog posts and she featured me! Go over and check out her blog...http://www.betterafter.blogspot.com/

There's nothing like the satisfaction of making something awesome out of something ugly....especially when everyone is doubting the piece. I love to see their reaction when they realize they were wrong, and the piece was worth saving!!! Especially when that person is my husband, and then he has to tell me that I've got skills. Well it usually doesn't come out in those specific words...so that's when I have to go grab a neighbor and she tells me that I've got skills.

I loved her site..and the different ideas and inspiration I got from it.

Another DVD tesitmonial/ baby bumpers

Hey Ladies... here's another super nice email that I recieved today about my dvd. It always makes my day to hear from some of you.

Shelly,
I just wanted to tell you that your DVD was better then I hoped it would be. I mean it is really, really good!! Outstanding! It has me so excited!

I love a smart talented girl.

I wish for you all the success you desire, you deserve it...its that great!

Well on another note...I am hoping to get some new pics up soon... I am dropping stuff off on Wednesday. My last batch of pics didn't turn out so well. Bad lighting, blurry, not blog worthy. SO it's not that I haven't been working, because believe me I have. Here are a few pics that did turn out.

Oh yes...I made some bumpers for my little sister...Angie is due in three weeks. She chose a solid gray to go with her bedskirt that she bought and we did a fat piping on the top of them. My other sister is 6 weeks behind her. I think this is the last round of grand babies for our family for a grand total of 21!!

She loved the way they turned out. I always make my bumpers as four separate pieces (like four pillows). I always make them 12" tall and I put 2" thick foam in them so they stand up and don't get saggy. I put zippers in the bottom, so you can reuse the foam for each baby and just make new covers if you want a change.

Oh but the other night a bunch of us went over to the church and played dodgeball in the gym...lots of fun. SO here are a few pics of that. We all dressed up to make it more fun.

Here is me wearing Heber's jersey it says, "Hebalicious"...he wore it for one of our Ragnar relay races.

Here's our team....Heber is front and center in his new Hawaiian shirt he bought from Savers (thrift store) in Maui...Yes they have a Savers there.

Here we are with Heber's knee brace, he is not fully back to normal yet from his ACL surgery last August.

The "Other Team".

Some of the boys threw quite hard...all my balls kept getting caught. That was my first time playing.

Maui Trip

We had 5 days notice for this trip...I booked our room on a Saturday and we flew out on Wednesday! Nothing like last minute!

Maui was a lot of fun...sunny 78-82 degrees compared to 15 degrees at home that week. We hiked to some waterfalls and blow holes. We went on a whale watch tour. We boogie boarded. We hot tubbed. We slept in. We shopped. We went on the road to Hana.

We went on the "Blue Water Rafting" tour...which was the highlight of our week, we saw dolphins and whales about 20 feet from our raft. We got to get out and snorkel in secluded coves which were in the lava fields on the south end of the island. If you ever go to Maui, you have to go on this tour it's about $100 per person, and totally worth it. They even fed us lunch and it's a smaller group that you get to go with.

Heber and I snorkeling on the first day there.
My running partner and her husband came with us. Nice to have another girl around when the boys want to watch basketball and football every night on tv. We would go hang out in the other room and watch our shows.

Here is Heber when we went to explore the north end of the island.

Me and Camille on the north end of the island.

Heber and I on the whale watch tour. Definitely not as good as the Blue water Rafting trip in terms of seeing whales close up...but still fun.

Part of the road to Hana...we took the back way around.

I loved this turqouise church on the drive to Hana....really charming.

This was a beach in Hana

We hiked to a blowhole.

Hanging out on the beach...I think Heber is the only one that came home with a tan....I don't tan, I just get more freckles.
Heber basking in the sun on our "Blue Water Rafting Tour".

Some of the lava field rocks on our raft tour.
One more snorkeling pic...I love Maui, can't wait till next time.

Oh on a side note....I just added on a team for Del Sol Ragnar Relay....One more month and I get to run another race. My neighbor last week said she had a friend that had two people drop from her team, so we decided to take the spots last minute. CAN'T WAIT I love running the ragnar relays...they are the most fun thing you'll ever do!

Another DVD testimonial

Just received another nice email today...just thought I'd share.

In the meantime, I just got back from the "Blue Water Rafting" tour in Maui. Just think of a big raft with a motor on it exploring the lava fields and lava caves on the south end of the island. We also saw whales and dolphins that were about 20 ft away from the raft...CRAZY!!! They stopped at a couple corals reefs for us to jump overboard and snorkel. Then they had lunch ready for us afterwards. I highly recommend them for a tour if you are coming to Maui. It's a smaller group size 24 max, I think we only had about 15 people.

Anyhow... onto the email.

Shelley,
This is Christiana. I just wanted to say hey. I can't tell you how helpful your video and sources have been in getting my business going. I'm pretty happy with how things are going....have a long way to go though! And I LOVE stopping by your website from time to time to get inspired again when I am feeling discouraged, it always motivates me to keep on going when I am thinking what in the world am I doing?!?
Hope you and your family had a great Christmas.
Thanks so much for everything!

Sundance Cabin Slipcovers

This job was for a cabin up at Sundance Ski Resort. The cabin has an amazing view...a whole wall of windows with the fireplace. There was no snow the day I came to pick up everything, and a week later when I came to drop it off there was tons of snow.

This is a picture of the before...it's purple, I know it's hard to tell

Another shot of the before for the chair, it's purple as well.

After of the whole room, I did a couch, 2 chairs and 2 ottomans and some pillows. The couches were out of a chunky grey linen. Heavy weight and thick...it was BEAUTIFUL! The pillow were out of a charcoal dark grey and the red of course.
After of just the couch.

Pillows turned out great too. I loved all the colors and the cabin feel.

Close up of the chair and ottoman

Here is a shot of the whole room....check out those windows!!!

WELL Ladies....I am off to Maui tomorrow for a week, a condo opened up really last minute (5 days ago) with our timeshare. So I am leaving behind this 7 degree weather for 80 degree weather and some sunshine. So if I don't answer your email right away this is why.
